Awareness Makes Cents – See You Next October!

Our annual Awareness Makes Cents campaign runs every October, bringing our community together to support local breast cancer survivors and their families. During the campaign we host a series of events and activities to raise awareness, encourage early detection, and support Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County (BCSS)and Thanx Wig Bank.

While this year’s campaign has wrapped up, we’re looking ahead to next October — and we hope you’ll join us again.

Here’s what you can expect when the campaign returns next year:

What We Do Every October

Custom Piggy Bank Silent Auction

Survivors from BCSS hand-decorate one-of-a-kind piggy banks for our annual auction. Every dollar raised goes directly to support local survivors.

  • Opening bids start at $10
  • Bids increase in $1 increments
  • Pick-up only at our Keiser Boulevard branch

Free Mammography Screening Day

We partner with the Lackawanna Mobile Mammography Unit to offer free mammograms — no insurance required.

  • Held at our Keiser Boulevard branch
  • Pre-registration required
  • First-come, first-served appointments

Fresh Flower Sale

Beautiful bouquets from Stein’s Flowers are available at select branches, with proceeds going to support the campaign.

Fairy Hair Event

In partnership with Thanx Wig Bank, guests can add some sparkle to their hair in exchange for a campaign donation.

Thank You to the Local Community for Its Support

This campaign makes a real impact in Berks County — and that’s because of you. Whether you’ve bid, donated, volunteered, or simply shared the message, your participation helps local survivors and their families in meaningful ways.

Check back next fall for details on the 10th Annual Awareness Makes Cents Campaign. Together, we’ll continue making awareness — and change — count.
