Community Partner

Home Community Involvement 2026 – 3rd Quarter Community Partner

About the Program

Riverfront Federal Credit Union spotlights a special organization as a community non-profit partner every three months. Funds raised during the quarter from swag sales and transaction round up donations are donated to the community partner’s cause and help to spread their message of hope and positivity throughout the community. You can help too by purchasing small items like coffee mugs and tee shirts at our branches – we’ll donate the proceeds to our quarterly partner!

2026 Third Quarter Community Partner – Friend, Inc. Community Services

Riverfront’s Nick sat down with Jim Ree,  Executive Director, to learn about how the organization got its start and how it has expanded into four food pantries as well as food delivery services, rental/utility and medical assistance throughout northeast Berks County. Friend, Inc. continues to explore areas of need and is committed to the resources necessary to help all reach self-sufficiency.

Friend, Inc. Community Services

As a community-focused credit union, Riverfront FCU is proud to support Friend, Inc., a social support organization that has worked to reduce food insecurity and other household economic pressures on families throughout rural northeast Berks County for over 40 years. Currently Friend, Inc. provides a self-service food and pet pantry, Kutztown University Student Pantry, Alburtis Mobile Market, and emergency food delivery. In addition to addressing food insecurity, Friend, Inc. provides help with utility and housing needs, as well as medical assistance, budget counseling, career education, and connections to relevant community service providers through strategic partnerships.

Friend, Inc. Welcomes Your Support

Anyone interested can make a monetary donation, sign up as a volunteer, contribute to the food pantry, or become a corporate partner. Support from the community helps accomplish their mission to fight hunger and reduce poverty in northeast Berks County. Visit their website at https://www.friendinc.org/ for more information.
